Warranty

Summary of Warranty

  1. Coverage Overview: The warranty covers manufacturing defects in GAF asphaltic shingles and accessories, including ridge cap shingles, starter strip shingles, leak barrier products, roof deck protection products, and ventilation products.

  2. Warranty Duration: The warranty duration varies depending on the type of shingle or accessory purchased, ranging from 25 years to lifetime coverage.

  3. Transferability: The warranty is transferable once to the first subsequent owner if properly notified within one year of property transfer.

  4. Manufacturing Defect Coverage: GAF will repair or replace defective products during the Smart Choice® Protection Period and provide partial coverage thereafter.

  5. Wind Warranty Coverage: GAF will reimburse for replacement of shingles or ridge cap shingles damaged by winds up to specified wind speeds, subject to installation requirements.

  6. Algae Warranty Coverage: Certain shingles are covered against algae discoloration for a specified period, with reimbursement for cleaning or replacement.

  7. Exclusions: The warranty does not cover damage from improper installation, acts of nature, impact, inadequate ventilation, ice damming, or discoloration not caused by algae.

  8. Claims Process: Owners must notify GAF within 30 days of noticing a problem and provide proof of installation date. GAF will evaluate claims and provide resolution accordingly.

  9. Sole and Exclusive Warranty: The limited warranty is exclusive and replaces all other warranties. GAF will not be liable for consequential damages.

  10. Modification of Warranty: The warranty may not be modified except in writing by an officer of GAF.

  11. Effective Date: The warranty is effective for products installed after January 1, 2023.
